Mother's Day

So in our Church for Mother's Day, the kids gave all the mothers M&M cookies in a jar for a gift. If you never received a cookies in a jar before its pretty straight forward. All the dry ingredients that are needed to make the cookies; i.e. flour, sugars, salt, baking powder and soda, etc., are placed in a mason jar. So all you have to do in making the cookies is add all the wet ingredients, mix it, and you have cookies a lot quicker that making it yourself from scratch.

About a week later for our Family Home Evening, we decided mix the cookies. It was really fun and great to watch Cam dig in with his hands to mix the cookies.

After awhile Cam just sat back and watched as Daddy did the rest of the work. Actually he got bored with it rather fast, but the cookies turned out really yummy.

Pretty yummy Mother's Day gift!

The Kids

So not to long ago I was looking at some pictures of when Cam was a new born and it made me wonder, what similarities or differences that Cam and Nathan have to each other.

Here they are...Can you tell which is which? :D Can't tell that they are brothers can you? ;-)

Of course, we all know that the kids are a lot like Mike and I.

But we are one big happy family! :D

And We Started Blogging Again...

We are ashamed.

Here is a short list of what has happened since we last blogged:

  • Nathan learned to roll over.
  • Dani cooked AMAZING pancakes.
  • I took finals.
  • I started a new semester.
  • I began to study for finals again.
  • Nathan started crawling.
  • We started using the phrase, "Cam, don't ride your brother."
  • Christmas.
  • Earthquakes in Japan.
  • The Government didn't shut down. (That's right, we were so slow that Congress accomplished something--kind of--since the last time we blogged).
  • It snowed a lot.
  • Snow melted.
  • Snowed again.
  • Melted again.
  • Entire governments were overthrown in the Middle East.
  • Thanksgiving.
  • Cam learned the ABC song. When he can't fall asleep he sings himself to sleep with it. Strange noises at 11:30 pm? "Q, R, S, T, U V..."
  • Saw Harry Potter 7.1 in the theater.
  • Harry Potter 7.1 came out on DVD.
I could go on. Instead, here's a video of Cam & Nathan.

Fun videos!

PPPPPEEEEEEEWWWWWWW!!!!!!!

WWIIIII.......BAUX

Ok, so recently Cam has been saying "WEEE" a lot. We thing he got it from the stupid Gieco commercial with the little pig screaming "wee" all the way home, and was really cute but it got a little annoying after a while. As we were driving to Helena, Mike saw a sign for Wibaux, Montana, so he decided to say "baux" after every time Cam "wee." And it turned into a really fun game for us.

The Summer Events part 2

So the rest of the summer was just a blur. With the birth of Nathan we were running around like crazy (at least it felt like it) as we got use to having 2 kids around.

As you can tell, it didn't take very long.

In mid August, we took our chances and went out to Helena, Montana to visit with Dani's family. Both kids were really good for it...after we all got use to traveling. But it was still a lot of run!

Cam had loads of fun with his cousin Izzy!

Nathan enjoyed lots of quiet time with Uncle Landon.

Cam learned ways to comfort Nathan.

Cam love digging in to stuff at Great-Grandmas.

Cam also learned the joys of a touch screen computer. That was fun to teach him after we got home to not touch the screens of our laptops.

Cam was a big help with packing.

As you can see, they had a blast with Papa

Cam enjoyed video games! (Sorry still Uncle Landon)

And we all would love to go back and visit again!!

The Summer Events part 1

So this past summer was a very busy one. Especially, the end of July and the whole month of August. We are so bad at keeping this blog up to date and we feel so bad about it, but at least we can give a summary. Well to start off with Mike (Shorty) finished his first year of law with amazing grades and started an internship in St. Cloud shortly after the summer started. He was and is working for the public defenders office up there, and even though during the summer it wasn't paid, during the school year he'll get paid a little bit, don't know how much and I don't particularly care but at least it is some spending cash. Even if it is just for gas.

Cam got his first hair cut and was fascinated by the scissors. So the only thing that kept him from grabbing for them was to give him the comb, that he swiped from my hands.....such an interesting toddler I have...

Cam put on a dance show for me...

...spent time with the cousins...

...in the pool....

...at the zoo...

...and showed us that he's ready for beer...root beer that is!

Then, of course the highlight of the summer!! The birth of our second son Nathan Thomas, born July 18, 2010 at 8:39 a.m. Weighing at 6 lbs. 7 oz., 20 inches in length.

Cam just loves his brother!!!

And of course to end this post with Cam art!!

Swimming, Sunburns, Summer

...Alliteration in the title. I should have put "Sizzlin'" in there too. Oh, and I may be a bit biased, but that is one cute kid up there. So here's the lowdown from the Anoka Andrewsens: First off, I (this is Mike) finished my first year of school, and am eagerly anticipating a Summer of working part time for the Stearns county Public Defender's office. In the interview they asked me how I would fare with friends/family if I was defending potential criminals. My answer: "I kind of live in my own little world, so I probably wouldn't notice even if they disapprove." So I've got that going for me. As for news around the house, Grandma and Grandpa are out of their house and into ours, kind of. At least during the week they're staying with us (although Grandpa is kind of like a Superhero, and comes and goes as he pleases). Cameron predictably loves it. Every time the front door opens he drops everything and rushes to the stairs to see who it is. If Grandma tries to sneak downstairs he climbs down the stairs as fast as he can to tell her all about his day.
Replace the weird looking guy with the blindingly white legs with Grandma and his is basically what he looks like every night. He loves to talk with his hands. He gets into these rants where he sounds so serious like he is teaching you about the tensions of North and South Korea and then he'll start whispering--obviously to make sure Kim Jong Il doesn't pick up on his brilliant ideas. Then he screams. He loves to scream. To the people at church: Yes, the kid you can hear screaming from the other side of the building is ours. No, he is not unhappy. Yes, your kid is probably going to pick it up from him. We apologize.
So we've been to Lake George a few times in the last couple weeks, and Cam just gets braver every time. Not a lot to add (see the post below) except that we all got sunburned the last time. Cam wasn't so bad, he got sun screened. Dani got a bit of a burn. But guess who gets the worst? Something about having skin that is "white as the driven snow" and sun just don't go well together. Oh and we're starting to realize that another baby is really coming in a few months. Seriously crazy--definitely a mix of "What were we thinking?" and "Awww, let's look at more of Cam's baby pictures he was so cute and little and look how peaceful he was when he was sleeping." So that's been fun. What else? Oh, as you can see in that picture above (kind of) pregnancy still takes to Dani well. She's as beautiful as always, and is currently sporting Minnesota paraphernalia. I'm going to convert her to a Minnesotan yet. I've got two years left, so I like my chances. Also, she watched an entire baseball game with me today--without falling asleep! I've said it before and I'll say it again: She's a keeper!
